Event Series “Magical Moments” Art Show

“Magical Moments” Art Show

Savage Mill 8600 Foundry St, Savage, MD

Magical Moments Art Show runs from Sunday, June 26, through Sunday, July 24. Meet the Artists at the Opening Reception on Sunday, June 26th, from 1-4:00 pm. Artists Trudy Babchak, Geraldine Butler, April Rimpo, and Nancy Ennis embrace summer’s warmth and slower pace in their show, Magical Moments. The showcased art spans many mediums, including oil, pastel, acrylic, watercolor paintings, and handcrafted and designed jewelry pieces. Trudy Babchak, an impressionistic painter in many mediums, is the daughter of two Holocaust survivors. Her paintings are about survival, but beyond that, transformation.  She wants the viewer to see beyond the use of color and imagery to create his or her own stories. Geraldine Butler‘s paintings bridge the gap between abstract and representational painting, challenging established ideas of what paintings are classified as. In doing so, she diversifies the type of art her viewers can relate to. April Rimpo works in watercolor and fluid acrylics, allowing her to be more interpretive than in her earlier oil and pencil work.  She believes it is the fact that watercolor and fluid acrylic flow in unpredictable ways that inspire her.  These media absorb her into the work, allowing the piece to develop in directions not fully […]

John Davis Held’s love for worldwide travel often inspires his art. John is best known for beautiful pastoral landscape paintings. Kevin O’Toole’s creation of kiln glass embodies everything he loves about making glass art – an intensive process presenting endless ways to shape and manipulate the material to showcase the inherent beauty, translucency, and depth of color unique to glass.

Event Series “Let It Shine” Art Show

“Let It Shine” Art Show

Savage Mill 8600 Foundry St, Savage, MD

Whether it’s the iridescent glaze on a well-formed pot, the glint of glass in a mosaic, or the sun setting over a hazy field, each artist in "Let it Shine" transfers a bit of their creativity, their inner glow, themselves to their work shared with us in this show. Nancy McIntosh works in Raku, a mesmerizing process of flame firing she learned when she first fell in love with clay as a medium. Nancy creates the form and the glazes, but she never knows the exact outcome until the piece survives the fire. Lee Foran fell in love with mosaics while working as a decorator; soon, her clients recognized her talent and began asking Lee to incorporate her mosaics into their homes. Finally, Lee turned the tables and gave herself full time to the art of 3D mosaic. Lisa Mitchell creates representational paintings, paying homage to the beautiful effect of light on the environment and encouraging those who view her work to slow down and spend time imagining themselves in such a place or perhaps become reacquainted with a familiar setting. The show runs through October 9, 2022.
