‘Snippet Roll’ with Patti Euler

Savage Mill 8600 Foundry St, Savage, MD

What’s a Snippet Roll and how do we use it? A Snippet Roll is a long strip of paper or fabric that is decorated with bits and pieces of paper, fabric and findings. A totally creative and awesome way to use all, okay... some, of the abundance of snips and bits of paper and fabric scraps in our arsenal of supplies. Not to mention all the tiny ribbons, lace, buttons, embellishments and ephemera… STUFF we don’t want to part with! I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that our scrap packs curated by Terry Quinn are our number one best seller! And although Snippet Rolls have been around for quite a few years they were mostly done in Fabric.  We are going to do ours in paper and add bits of fabric and other goodies.  There are tons of ways to use them.  Once you make the roll as long as you want, you then can cut little snips to use in your journal, on cards, as a belly band on a book, jewelry etc.  The possibilities are endless. Come join us for a few hours of fun and conversation and build, create, and design your very own Snippet […]

You Need This Class Too with Anna White

Savage Mill 8600 Foundry St, Savage, MD

When Patti saw this class in action, she said we needed to put it on the schedule again and rename it "You Need This Class Too", and that she was going to take it. This class will teach you how to translate a photograph into a beautiful graphic style painting. We will be working with just two colors and white to create a monochromatic or a contiguous chromatic painting. I will teach you how to balance color and use value to simplify images. The techniques and knowledge you learn in this class can be carried over into many other applications within your art. Learning how to recognize value and balance are important skills for any art you do. We will be working on a 9" x 12" canvas board. I will have images for you to work from or you can bring your own. You are certainly not limited to animals that was just what I worked from. Fashion, architecture, landscapes, or spaceships ..., nothing is out of reach. If you bring your own, I recommend printing it out full size on an 8 1/2" x 11" computer paper. Your canvas board and acrylic paints will be provided, but if you […]
