Pottery wheels to fencing foils, our community is the place to learn, play, and push your limits. Take a candle-making class, explore beadwork or ceramics, join a Magic The Gathering game in Omnihedral, or step into a full-service recording studio at Red Bridge. With STEM kits, ziplines, and martial arts all available in the same place, we guarantee ‘bored’ isn’t something you’ll feel when you’re here.
Alumia Design Studio
Alumia Design Studio offers a diverse range of handmade, unique jewelry pieces, each meticulously crafted and accompanied by a meaning card that details the symbolism behind the design.
We specialize in making custom jewelry, allowing customers to add a personal touch with carved names or unique designs. Our services extend to gold plating, repair services, ring engravings, and more.
Additionally, Alumia hosts various workshops and lessons suited for individuals and groups, including Saw Your Own Pendant, Copper Wire Tree on Crystal, Learn Plier work - Beads and Findings Fiesta, and a whole catalog for learning different techniques in the metalwork world of jewelry making.

Bead Soup
Bead Soup is a bead store that sells seed beads, kits to make beaded jewelry and more, crystals, beads one by one and so much more. We hold monthly get-togethers so you can hang out with other beaders. These get-togethers include bead embroidery, needle weaving, Delicas and an open beading session where you can work on anything. There are also monthly Zoom classes for those who like to take classes from home. We host events with bead designers from around the world and trunk shows with various artists that include cabochons, lamp work beads and their designer bead kits.
Candles by Candy
Whether you’re searching for a luxurious scented candle to relax, a meaningful gift for someone special, or a fun, hands-on candle-making experience, our candle store and boutique is the perfect place to explore. Step into a cozy space filled with warm glow and delightful aromas, and experience the magic of handmade candles.
We also offer kids’ classes, host private events, and always welcome walk-ins. And don’t forget—it’s always BYOB!
Clay Coven
Clay Coven is more than a shop or a pottery studio. It’s a community center.
We are a learning pottery studio offering a selection of one-time experiences, multi-week courses, and private group events.
Gentle Hands Healing Arts
Gentle Hands Healing Arts is a wellness collective offering Reiki, acupuncture, personalized sound healing, Tarot reading, herbal consultations, and nature therapy for all. Family Reiki sessions and couple’s sound baths are also offered, as well as Reiki mentorship courses and healing events. Each of our providers is a sole proprietor operating their own business and bringing their wealth of skills to Historic Savage Mill. Jessica Sharp specializes in emotional healing, trauma recovery, and spiritual growth. Dr. Rachelle Dixon’s specialty is Traditional and Indigenous healing wisdom and the decolonization of care. We believe that every person deserves care that is tailored to their individual needs; and we honor each client’s safety, comfort, sovereignty, dignity, life experience, and goals. It is our hope that clients will feel nourished, supported, and deeply welcomed into our tender little corner of the Mill.

Leona’s Sewing Studio
Leona’s Sewing Studio is located in Suite 214 of the Carding Building, one of oldest buildings of Historic Savage Mill. In the early 1800s, all of the functions of the textile mill were housed in the Carding Building, including processing raw cotton, carding, spinning and weaving.
Now, Leona’s Sewing Studio will take its place by returning a small part of the Carding Building to some of the original textile-related business functions. Leona's Sewing Studio offers a rich portfolio of sewing, design and quilting courses for the beginner, intermediate and advanced level sewer. The portfolio includes, but is not limited to, sewing, quilting, pattern drafting and sewing machine repair. Leona’s Sewing Studio also offers custom clothing services for just about anyone. However, the main focus is designing custom clothing for clergy and liturgical dancers. One of the primary principles of Leona’s Sewing Studio is to give back to the community. Special projects are planned that pertain to community service both internationally and in the local area. Leona’s Sewing Studio is geared to helping America regain hope and prosperity through sewing and quilting, a relaxing and rewarding life skill. We hope you will join us for class as we re-create and re-connect with textile history at the Historic Savage Mill.
Maryland Jeet Kune Do
Maryland Jeet Kune Do is Maryland’s best choice for self-protection and self-perfection training, offering classes in Bruce Lee’s philosophy and self-defense art of Jeet Kune Do. MDJKD leadership is made up of a group of highly motivating, technical, and professional instructors who offer cutting-edge self-protection and personal development training and view martial arts as a way of life. Maryland Womens Business Center Shop Local
MWBC Shop Local is a retail incubator designed to lower the barriers for startup and early-stage retail and small-scale manufacturing entrepreneurs. Established in 2019, MWBC Shop Local minimizes financial risk through shared space and provides technical assistance to help small business owners develop and refine their business strategies. Participants benefit from comprehensive training and mentoring, ensuring they are well-prepared to navigate the challenges of running a business.
Every six months, a new cohort of entrepreneurs joins the program, bringing fresh ideas and energy to the community. To support their growth and visibility, participants host maker events, providing opportunities to showcase their products, connect with customers, and build their brands. These events foster a vibrant community of entrepreneurs who support and inspire each other.

Omnihedral is committed to enriching life, learning, and doing through curated creative play! We sell all manner of tabletop games and STEM activity kits and have a vast library of board games to rent. Events are a large part of what we do, focused on both gaming and STEM education.

Savage Fencing Club
The Savage Fencing Club offers instruction and coaching in the sport of fencing. The club’s professional team of experienced coaches and managers focuses on providing maximum satisfaction to three similar, but diverse, groups of customers: beginners, recreational fencers, and competitive fencers who expect to compete at national and international levels.
The Savage Fencing Club offers programs that cater to the needs of each of these groups, and expects that many beginners will move onto becoming either recreational members (who fence weekly for fun and for exercise) or competitive members (who practice multiple times a week and who help raise the public profile of the club, the sport, and Savage Mill itself, by competing in events across the region, the nation, and in some cases, the world.
Terrapin Adventures
Terrapin Adventures is your gateway to nature, fun, challenges and aerial adventure. On-site we have a ropes course, zipline, climbing tower, giant swing, low ropes course and Terrapin Explorer – a ropes course built specifically for ages 5-9. Off-site, we take guests kayaking, caving, backpacking, and river tubing. We also run special events like the MudRun or Murder Mystery, new events all the time.
Whether you are looking for thrills for your family and friends, corporate outings, team building, a party experience or something exciting and new to do with your friends or group; we can make your adventure something you will always remember.
Zipline: Experience the thrill of gliding through the trees 30 ft. in the air at speeds up to 20 miles an hour as you travel on our 330 ft. long zip line. Guests glide along a suspended 3/8 inch steel cable using a pulley and comfortable climbing harness. Our Adventure Guides will make sure you are safely secure before you step off and experience the thrill of seeing the forest from a different point of view. We call it no sweat adrenaline!
While we welcome walk-ins subject to availability, we suggest you reserve in advance or call ahead as some days we cannot accommodate walk-ins due to large groups or prior recreation bookings.

Last Saturday we were happy to host our second annual parranda, a Puerto Rican twist on traditional holiday caroling. Our friends with @cultura_plenera provided music, singing, and laughter for a beautiful celebration of the season. Thank you to everyone who joined us, bringing festive hats, handmade instruments, dancing, and tears of joy that made for a very special evening. ¡Feliz navidad!

A parranda is Puerto Rico’s joyful twist on holiday caroling—filled with music, laughter, and community spirit. Traditionally held in homes, our friends with @cultura_plenera are bringing it to the heart of Savage Mill for a one-hour musical celebration you won’t want to miss.

Sunday afternoon`s Santa Heim history tour enjoyed this stop on the newly-repainted and illuminated Bollman Truss Railroad Bridge. The group spent an hour exploring sites that were part of the 1948-51 Santa Novelties Christmas ornament factory legacy.
Check out the "Santa Heim, Merryland: A Savage Christmas Story" exhibition, on display in the New Weave building through Jan. 9!

What an incredible night at Savage Mill. Thank you to everyone who bundled up, came out, and helped us welcome the season with this cherished community tradition.
A very special thank you to @aardvarkconcepts for installing the lights so beautifully, and to @hocorec for their hard work in bringing the bridge restoration across the finish line in time for Saturday.
We were also so happy to welcome Nana from Bollman Bridge Elementary as our Cheermeister this year. She brought such joy and excitement to the countdown.
Our heartfelt gratitude goes to @hocogovexec Calvin Ball. It has been an honor to light the bridge with him year after year, and we are so grateful for his continued support of this tradition and of our Savage community.
We also want to thank @visithocomd, @howardcountyeda, and @councilwomancmr Christiana Rigby for joining us and for everything they do to uplift our small businesses and our historic town.
Thank you as well to the Savage Community Association for being such an important part of this annual celebration. And a huge shoutout to Tori the Elf for leading everyone to the bridge and bringing an extra dose of holiday magic.

This Saturday at 6pm, join us in person to watch the magic happen during our annual Holiday Bridge Lighting! @hocorec just restored the Bollman Truss Railroad Bridge to its original Federal Red color, and it’s a sight to behold! Following remarks from local dignitaries including @hocogovexec Calvin Ball and @councilwomancmr Christiana Rigby, a “cheermeister” (student from Bollman Bridge Elementary) will light the bridge for the season! (Note: Foundry St. will be closed to vehicular traffic from 5-7 pm to accommodate the crowds!)
Small Business Saturday at Savage Mill was everything we hoped for and more!
Thank you to everyone who came out to shop small and fill the Mill with so much energy and warmth. Our artists, makers, boutiques, and restaurants felt the love all day long. Santa and Mrs. Claus were a total delight and the smiles from families, kids, and even a few pups made the whole place shine.
We loved welcoming @hocogovexec, @christianarigbyhoco, @vatterbeary, @howardcountyeda and @visithocomd to help kick things off. @boydcruwines and their incredible vendors brought amazing festive vibes to the pop up market and helped make the day feel truly special.
And the celebration keeps going! Savage Mill Yuletide continues this weekend along with our annual Bridge Lighting on December 6th at 6pm. Come back, bring a friend, and keep the holiday magic going at Savage Mill.
