“Drawing 1 Series” with Anna M. White

6 Saturday Morning Sessions – April 24th, May 1st, May 8th, May 22nd, May 29th, and June 5th

Have you ever looked out across a landscape and desired to capture it with something other than a photograph? Have you ever had an idea that you wanted to express on paper, but didn’t feel like you knew where to begin? Have you ever wanted to add an element to a piece of artwork that you were working on, but didn’t have the confidence to add it freehand? Do you find drawing intimidating? Drawing/sketching is perhaps the most important skill for any artist to have in their skill box, but is also a subject area that many have a desire to grow in. It is also not a skill that can be learned overnight, but this series will start at the beginning and help anyone, at any level, grow from where they are.

This class will establish a foundation for drawing and will teach gradation, shading, balance, and line creation.  You will learn how to layout elements, draw what you are seeing, and how to use different drawing techniques. We will be primarily working with charcoals and graphite. Taught over six sessions, there will be a lot that we will work on and an extensive amount of individual attention given to each student.

The Queen’s Ink will provide you with everything you need for this class. Each student will receive an extensive kit with a $75 value. The kit includes a 11”x14” spiral bound sketch book, set of earth tone pastels, hard and soft vine charcoal, a General’s #15 Charcoal Set (compressed charcoals, charcoal pencils, kneaded eraser, sharpener, white charcoal pencil, white compressed charcoal, and a carbon sketch pencil), sealer, and a tool box to store and transport it all.
