It’s easy to see why Santa PoPPoP and Mrs. Claus are two of the Mill’s star attractions. Decked out in their finest holiday attire, they warmly greet visitors of all ages and listen attentively to what each person has to share. Not surprisingly, the line can be long, but individuals of all ages wait patiently for their chance to talk with Santa, have some photos taken, and pick up a candy cane.
Their first weekend back with us was packed, but we grabbed a few minutes at the end to talk with them about what’s happening at the North Pole and their impressions of their time here.

What are some new things going on at the North Pole this year?
The reindeer started weekly dancing lessons and let me just tell you, Prancer is living her best life. This year, we added a hot cocoa fountain in the workshop’s breakroom and productivity has gone up significantly. And best of all, the Northern Lights have been especially beautiful this year.
Mrs. Claus, it’s exciting that you join us every weekend as well. What convinced you to take time out of your busy holiday schedule of baking, wrapping presents, and so on to come to Savage Mill?
Children’s joy, love, and laughter are my favorite kinds of Christmas magic and bring me hope for our world. Hugs are my favorite!

After a busy weekend here, you probably need a break. How do you manage to go back to the North Pole and get all the work done there?
It’s true, this past weekend we probably spoke with over 150 children! Fortunately, we have lots of helpers at the North Pole. (Santa works with the Elves and Mrs. Claus works with the Fairies.)
What does a visitor need to do in order to get a wooden coin?
Wooden coins are given to all children on the nice list until our carpenter runs out of wood.

People bring both kids and pets to visit you. Has that ever made for an interesting interaction?
Every child, every person, and every pet brings their unique warmth, joy, and specialness. It’s extra special seeing the love that so many people have for their furry friends. And this year, we also had our first cat visitor!
What are some cherished memories from your time visiting with people here at Savage Mill?
There are many families we’ve seen year after year and that warms our hearts.
Seeing how kind and friendly folks are to one another while waiting to see Santa.
Hearing about folks’ special holiday traditions.
Seeing/hearing about some of the fun, special, and unique presents people have found while shopping at Savage Mill.
We know you like cookies and milk. What is your favorite type of cookie?
Homemade and store bought. Lumpy, creamy, chewy, and crunchy. Hot and cold. Round, and all other shapes!!
Thank you, SantaPoPPoP and Mrs. Claus, for talking with us and for bringing so much joy and care to our holiday season! We hope you get to relax with lots of cookies and milk in between your visits here.
