The popular Netflix television series Bridgerton is the theme of next Thursday’s Girls Night Out. Don’t know what Bridgerton is? Or would you like a sneak peek into what’s planned for this quarterly evening shopping and socializing extravaganza? Lady Savage, our addition to the series, is happy to orient you to this splendid occasion!
What is Bridgerton?
Bridgerton is a historical romance set in London in the early 1800s (the Regency era). It features a fictional well-to-do family that is part of the ton, or fashionable society. Young marriageable men and women are being introduced to society during the season, the time of year – late winter to early summer – when families of means would travel from their country homes to enjoy several months of parties and transactions in London. This was known as “a business of pleasure.” Of course, gossip, intrigue and scandal ensue.
What is Girls Night Out?
Savage Mill’s retail shops typically close at 6 pm, but every few months the Mill organizes a themed evening, inviting the shops to stay open until 8 pm and join in the fun with special offers and activities. Free wine, mocktails, snacks, and giveaways add to the excitement.
What is special about this Girls Night Out?
This is a chance to dress up – whether you own a Regency-era gown or not – and have fun with the theme!
Arriving at our check-in area, shoppers will be greeted by decor reminiscent of the television show. Expect to see lots of draped wisteria and touches evoking high society. The first 500 attendees will receive a free Savage Mill shopping bag and $5 in Mill bucks to be redeemed at one of the participating shops. After grabbing a drink and before heading off to start shopping, stop by the Savage Farmers Market stand to pick up a packet of free native seeds from Howard EcoWorks. While there, grab a flyer about the inaugural Savage Farmers Market, opening May 29, and consider making a donation to help ensure the Market’s success. Donors will be entered into a raffle for a farmers market-related prize!
Bingo card in hand, shoppers will head off to explore, shop, socialize, and otherwise engage in “a business of pleasure.” Here’s how some of our businesses are having fun with the Bridgerton concept:
The Last Word bookstore will have themed mugs, books, and other items for sale.
Laraydiance Wellness Spa Boutique is offering a Bridgerton-themed Daphne skincare kit.
Xanadu Botanicals and Design has accentuated the beautiful moss wall with wisteria. It’s an inviting photo op spot, and the owners of the new Portrait Salon are happy to oblige.
Up in their loft studio, The Portrait Salon will feature a Bridgerton-era studio set. They’ll be taking appointments and walk-ins throughout the day and evening, so come dressed for the occasion!
Down the Hall, Bead Soup will be offering Make and Take earrings for $5-8. The Lady Savage version, complete with crystals and pearls, is perfect for the occasion.
More Than Java Cafe, the new dining establishment in our Eatery, will be showing the premiere of the new Bridgerton season throughout the evening.
