Our ATC workshop this month will feature papers and designs that focus on the use of basic shapes and primary colors. Simplified geometric forms such as circles, squares and triangles are the foundation of the Bauhaus style. Simple color schemes are another principle of Bauhaus design. Yellow triangles, blue circles, and red squares are unmistakably Bauhaus, and Stamperia’s paper collection reflects this design esthetic. We will be using this collection to create our ATCs for our October’s theme. You will create 4 cards. If time permits, extra paper and embellishments will be available for you to make additional ATC’s.

History: Artist trading cards have been around since the late 1990’s as a way for artists to meet in person and trade their small works of art. Initially there were only two rules; the size 2.5 x 3.5, the same format as baseball trading cards. Second, they must be traded and never sold. ATCs are self-made unique works or small series, signed and dated on the reverse by the artist/producer, exchanged and collected by the people who participate in the collaborative performance. Since the inception of this art form the rules have evolved and changed. The size is still 2.5x 3.5. However, many artists have found that there is a demand for their miniature art works and those are called ACEO’s.
