More Than Java Cafe’ is proud to provide quality coffees, teas and much more to our Savage community and beyond. We are confident that once you visit and experience the warm atmosphere, you will become a regular part of our More Than Java Cafe’ family.
As a family, we have always loved being able to enjoy fresh vibrant and great tasting foods. However, what we discovered was how hard it was to actually find this combination along with a warm inviting atmosphere to enjoy it in.
So we created our own.

Last Sunday`s screening of two short documentaries, "Relentless" and "Eroding History," highlighted local artist/activist Joyce Scott and the environmental justice issues facing Black communities on the Eastern Shore`s Deal Island. The audience stayed for a long conversation with the filmmakers and directors afterwards. Thank you to @achungphoto for bringing these important films to Savage Mill.
Our New Weave Commons was alive with rich swirls of color and talent during Leona`s Sewing Studio`s fashion show the other weekend. What a colorful and fitting addition to "Threads of Heritage" and the Black History Month Celebrations here at Savage Mill! Special thanks to @mccraemultimedia for the photos.

Last year marked the 75th anniversary of the Winer family`s purchase of Savage Mill. The restoration and renovation that they started in the 1980s was a long-term investment in a vision that has become a reality: a model of adaptive reuse and stewardship that today is home to a vibrant community of small businesses.

This is not just a fashion show. It is a celebration of culture, creativity, and the next generation of designers stepping confidently into their future. These student creators have poured their hearts into every stitch and they are ready to light up the runway.

We were thrilled with the turnout for our Presidents Day American Red Cross Blood Drive - it was our largest to-date, netting 39 units. With each unit having the potential to save three lives, our donors positively impacted up to 114 lives. Thank you to everyone who came out! 🙏

The evening will include a panel discussion following the films, along with free concessions, and an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversation around Black history, environmental justice, cultural memory, and creative resistance.

Last night’s opening of Threads of Heritage, the exhibition curated by Leona`s Sewing Studio, was filled with connection, conversation, and powerful storytelling through fabric and design. Seeing our community come together to experience these works was truly special.
A heartfelt thank you to @hocogovexec, @councilwomancmr, and @howardcountyeda Jennifer Jones for joining us and for sharing such meaningful words as we opened this exhibition together.
Threads of Heritage will be on view through April 3, and we invite you to come back, take your time with the installation, and experience it again. While you’re here, be sure to take part in our Community Quilt and add your own piece to this growing collective work.
