About This Savage Mill Business
Murillo’s Jewelry is a family-owned store established in November 2007 located at Historic Savage Mill in Savage, MD. The owner, Gustavo Murillo, has over 30 years of experience in custom designs, watch and jewelry repairs, and restorations. In his hometown Bogota, Colombia, he learned and gained experience in creating and repairing all kinds of jewelry by hand. In 1979 he brought his expertise to United States, where he worked in different fine jewelry stores including Florida, District of Columbia, and Maryland.

The restoration and renovation that they started in the 1980s was a long-term investment in a vision that has become a reality: a model of adaptive reuse and stewardship that today is home to a vibrant community of small businesses.

On Sunday, February 22 at 6:00pm in the New Weave Building, we are proud to host a screening of Eroding History and Relentless, two powerful documentary films connected to the work of award-winning filmmaker and photographer André Chung (@achungphoto).
The evening will include a panel discussion following the films, along with free concessions, and an opportunity to engage in meaningful conversation around Black history, environmental justice, cultural memory, and creative resistance.

Last night’s opening of Threads of Heritage, the exhibition curated by Leona`s Sewing Studio, was filled with connection, conversation, and powerful storytelling through fabric and design. Seeing our community come together to experience these works was truly special.
A heartfelt thank you to @hocogovexec, @councilwomancmr, and @howardcountyeda Jennifer Jones for joining us and for sharing such meaningful words as we opened this exhibition together.
Threads of Heritage will be on view through April 3, and we invite you to come back, take your time with the installation, and experience it again. While you’re here, be sure to take part in our Community Quilt and add your own piece to this growing collective work.

We’re honored to kick things off with Threads of Heritage, a powerful fabric exhibition curated by Leona`s Sewing Studio that celebrates culture, history, and the stories woven into every thread.
Join us February 12 at 6pm for the opening of the exhibition. Stroll through the installation, enjoy a glass of wine from @boydcruwines as you explore, and take part in our community quilt, where everyone is invited to contribute and be part of the story.
This is just the beginning of a month filled with meaningful moments, creativity, and connection. We can’t wait to celebrate together.
